We had a wonderful open house highlighting two new series of work: The Big Bold Bloom Wild Painting Series and my new Encaustic Series.
The Big Bold Bloom Wild Painting Series developed in response to Lynn Whipple's online class by that name. We are all avid "Bloomers" now and love painting with acrylics in this loose and colorful fashion with a dash of mixed media.
Encaustic is a method of creating artwork with a wax based medium. It is historically one of the oldest methods of painting. Pigmented or clear wax is melted and layered on to create a wonderful depth with a beautiful soft finish. I have often embedded drawings as well. I do this work outside and so had to stop in July when it just got too hot!
